Critical illness G-Day premium changes have shown Aegon, Scottish Provident and Bright Grey to have the highest increases, while LV= can boast the lowest, CIExpert has reported
According to CIExpert, there have been number of rates that have reduced or risen "far higher" than was forecast.
Bright Grey saw guaranteed premiums for a 40-year-old female rise by as much as 51.2% while Aviva has reduced guaranteed rates for 50 year old females by 11.1%, CIExpert analysis found.
For males, Aegon has increased guaranteed rates for 50 year old male non-smokers by 22.1%; Aviva reduced guaranteed rates by a staggering 60%.
Alan Lakey, founder of CIExpert, said: "It seems that insurers have used the changeover period to re-position themselves to obtain the type of new business balance required.
"This is particularly evident for female smokers where the premium increase is roughly double that of smokers."
Predictions prior to G-Day anticipated premiums for males would rise by 6% and for females by 16%.
The statistics have been taken from the period 9 October 2012 to 9 January 2013. All the figures shown assume a £100,000 plan over 25 years.
