COVER Magazine editor Paul Robertson won the Protection Journalist of the Year accolade at the 2014 Protection Review Awards.
Now in its tenth year, The Protection Review Awards, held at London's Landmark Hotel, celebrates companies and individuals who go out of their way to improve and promote the protection and health insurance industries.
On Paul's win, the judges said: "The industry votes for this award were split fairly evening between several reporters and editors, which explains the larger than usual shortlist.
"While some of the nominees are editors, rather than reporters, the judges and clearly the voters too, felt that the editor's role in supporting the protection industry warrants recognition. Sometimes across the industry the reporter gets the by-line when the editor has steered the direction and often done at least some of the work.
"Our winner is a journalist who scored highly in the voting process and who the judges felt has done more to drive protection issues and help advisers this year than any other."
Fellow winners included Roy McLoughlin of Master Adviser, who won Individual Protection Adviser of the Year, London & Country who scooped Protection Intermediary of the Year and PruProtect who won organisation of the year.
Aviva walked away with the Underwriter of the Year prize while Regency Health was awarded Health Insurance Adviser of the Year.
And Scottish Widows' Johnny Timpson won Personality of the Year for his "willingness to help anyone who is keen to improve the image of protection in this country."
Finally, the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award went to Alan Tyler, whose work with government on welfare initiatives, service on the ABIs' PHI committee and final project with The Income Protection Task Force were innovations in a career devoted to the protection industry.
