Legal & General has announced it is backing The Stroke Association's annual awareness month and awareness campaign.
Legal & General have provided £40,000 sponsorship for Action on Stroke Month in May 2014 and the launch of the charity's newest campaign on TIA/mini-stroke.
Stroke Association aims to ensure that more people know a TIA is a warning sign of a stroke and anyone with the symptoms of a TIA should seek emergency medical treatment. By being aware of TIA, more strokes can be prevented.
James Hails, head of corporate partnerships at Stroke Association, said: "Although stroke is one of the UK's biggest killers, and leading causes of disability, far too many people don't understand what a stroke is or don't think it will happen to them. With Legal & General's support, we can get the message across that stroke is closer many people think and Stroke Association is here for you."
During May, the charity will join forces with members of the public and health and community groups to host awareness -raising and fundraising events across the country.
These will include Stroke Community Fairs, where people can access information about stroke and the range of support that's available to stroke survivors, their families and friends.
People will also be able to get free blood pressure tests.
Duncan Finch, executive managing director Insurance, for Legal & General, said: "Stroke is one of the major health issues that can affect our customers. By working with the UK's leading stroke charity, we can help improve our understanding of the impact of stroke and develop our products and services to meet the needs of those affected by this devastating condition.
