Entirely-online life insurance provider enters the market

clock

An entirely-online provider has entered the market in an aim to modernise life insurance.

Beagle Street Life Insurance, part of the BGL group, will provide instant cover with no medicals that can be bought directly through comparison sites.

It expects the majority of customers to buy online, but has a telephone team of advisers on hand.

Matthew Gledhill, director of Beagle Street, said: "We first spotted the opportunity to move into the life market around 18 months ago. It is a sector that is quite antiquated when it comes to distribution, and customers are ready for a more user-friendly way to buy cover.

"We believe that the expertise we have gained in online business, combined with Scottish Friendly's heritage and experience, gives us a winning formula for success in this market."

Scottish Friendly, partners of the BGL Group, will underwrite Beagle Street cover.
