Skandia has launched a service for advisers writing high value protection cases.
The new service offers a tailored VIP underwriting service to help put cover in place for clients who require high levels of protection as quickly as possible.
It is offered to clients requesting £2 million or more of life cover or £1 million more of critical illness cover.
Once a qualifying case is received it will be acknowledged by a member of the dedicated customer service team who will act as a named contact and manage the case through to completion.
Skandia will publish details of senior regional underwriters so advisers can contact them directly at any stage of the application process and it has also introduced a special hotline.
Underwriting high levels of cover involves gathering a large amount of information, including a GP's report, medical examination, other health tests and a financial questionnaire.
A single appointment will be made at a private hospital, usually within 25 miles of the client's home or place of work, with chauffer driven transfers available.
Afterwards, an additional confidential personal report by a Harley Street doctor will be sent to the client, with suggestions on how they can improve their health.
Ian Brown, head of protection at Skandia, hopes the service will offer a smooth, streamlined service to its VIP customers.
He said: "In our experience, it is the people who need the most cover who are generally the ones with the least time to spare. With these clients, it is important for the cover to be obtained as soon as possible."
