British Friendly has hired Nick Telfer, previously of Vitality and Defaqto, in the newly created role of head of product and propositions.

Joining at the beginning of March, Telfer's role will oversee British Friendly's
proposition strategy, product development, member benefits, market intelligence, and manage relationships with key networks and portals.

He moved to British Friendly from Vitality, where he was technical product manager for seven years.

Prior to that, Nick was head of research at Defaqto, which recently gave British
Friendly a five star income protection rating.

Telfer said: "British Friendlyhas a dynamic vision for the adviser market and it's an exciting prospect to help shape this to deliver a step change in the market.

"We've already seen some interesting initiatives from British Friendly this year, including online auto acceptance, and releasing a decade of claims stats, alongside films and case studies to support advisers.

"There will be much more to come during 2016 and beyond."

Iain Clark, marketing and distribution director at British Friendly, said: "Nick comes with a highly respected reputation and we are very pleased he decided to join British Friendly.

"2016 has been a busy year for us already, and significant new hires will help further solidify our position in the market. We are very well placed to innovate, push boundaries and build new propositions for advisers and their clients."
