Unum has launched an enhanced Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to help employers deal with staff well-being issues as part of Unum LifeWorks.
There will also be new features for policy holders, including:
• An increased number of face-to-face counselling sessions
• Personal legal support for insured staff
• Access to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) treatment
• Access for non-insured staff to Unum's confidential helpline and online service
Unum Lifeworks is provided by Ceridian, and will be available to all Group Life customers from 1 January 2015.
Personal legal support and EMDR are unique features to the group risk market, and Unum LifeWorks is available via an app.
In the last five years Unum Lifeworks has provided 38,000 face-to-face counselling sessions, which led to improvements in or resolution of problems in 84% of cases.
Online log-ins for the service have almost reached 50,000 people while 10% have used the Unum LifeWorks app.
Andrew Potterton, head of proposition development at Unum, said: "Protection products help employers to support staff once they fall ill, but they can also play a vital role in prevention. Employee Assistance Programmes help to make staff feel supported and often prevent issues from developing into something more serious.
"Unum LifeWorks provided by Ceridian, which comes free with all our GIP products, has helped thousands of employers and employees over five years, and we want to continue to improve and innovate to make sure we can provide the specialist support they need."
