International PMI insurer Allianz Worldwide Care has launched a mobile app allowing members to submit medical claims plus access a range of other services.
Using only MyHealth app, members provide a few key details about their claim, take a photo of their medical invoices and press ‘Submit'.
All personal data entered using the app is secured via encryption. Members can also use the app to track the status of submitted claims and to check details on claims already paid.
MyHealth stores a member's latest policy documents so they can check their cover at any time, even offline.
It includes features such as ‘Find a hospital', which can locate hospitals nearby, in whatever country the insured member happens to be in; GPS will provide directions to the hospital selected.
There is fast access to local emergency services' numbers on a country by country basis, while the ‘Medical term translator' is a useful tool that shows key medical terms in 17 different languages.
Members can use the app to call a medical professional and get advice on a wide-range of topics such as blood pressure, vaccinations and infectious diseases.
The ‘Pharmacy aid' tool in the app provides the internationally-recognised names for a wide range of branded drugs so that a pharmacist can source and offer a local equivalent if a member is away from home or on holiday.
Commenting, Susan Landers, head of marketing and client management at Allianz Worldwide Care, said: "The most commonly used services are all available in one simple application, however it's the speed and convenience of the claims submission functionality that really sets our app apart from anything else available in the international health insurance market today".
Allianz Worldwide Care's MyHealth app is available for free download from the Apple App Store and Google Play. It is available in English, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
