National Dental Plan (NDP) has announced a number of changes to its corporate optical cover.
The new proposition is designed to offer additional benefits to employees and their spouse or partner, over and above the optical cover offered through employer voucher schemes and the NHS.
The reimbursement for NDP's optical product for employees and dependents now offers:
• £30 towards eye test fees, at any optician of the employee's choice
• £50 towards any frames
• £100 towards lenses (including contact lenses)
• £10,000 for loss of sight (not normally
available through employer voucher schemes and the NHS)
An employer's responsibility towards its employees is set out under Health & Safety Regulations and they are required to pay for eye tests for employees who use display screen equipment (DSE).
Many employers offer voucher schemes that cover the costs of both an eye examination and, where necessary, a pair of base level glasses.
The NHS provides eligible adults, children under the age of 16 and those under 19 in full time education a free eye test and a basic style of glasses.
Andrew Morris, business development director for NDP, said: "Our new benefits are an attractive upgrade for employees with vouchers, or a valuable level of protection for those without.
"When using NDP's optical cover alongside these existing schemes, employees can be confident of great protection for all of the family."
