Ellipse has enhanced its online quotation system to provide flex and voluntary quotes for group life (lump sum) and critical illness cover.
The group risk insurer said it was a ‘major step' in broadening access to modern employee benefit programmes to employers of all sizes.
To be able to use the service, advisers must have the suitable middleware - such as a benefits platform - to handle the administration of flex schemes.
The middleware must be capable of calculating premiums from an uploaded rate table, provide member data at least quarterly, be capable of providing an audit trail of each member's selections and handle benefit window and lifestyle event adjustments.
John Ritchie, CEO at Ellipse, said: "Clearly it is critical for the sponsor and adviser to ensure the infrastructure is in place to run the flex/voluntary scheme, which is why our new flex quotation production facility will be restricted to advisers using software that enables them and us to handle flex schemes with a good, fast and accurate service."
"Where advisers are set up to do this, we invite them to contact us for more information. We will be happy to switch on the flex part of our online service for them.
"They will then be able to obtain online quotes for flex and voluntary group life schemes with up to 500 members or group critical illness ones for up to 300 members."
