Foresters Friendly Society has launched a GP Consultation Service providing members with medical advice around the clock.
The new service is available to all Foresters members when they take out a policy.
The GP Consultation Service connects Foresters members directly to a qualified doctor who can provide advice over the phone or online via a webcam. If necessary, a prescription can be dispatched to either a work or home address.
In addition, members can call the service from anywhere in the world giving them the peace of mind that professional medical advice is always easily accessible. The GP Telephone Consultation Service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The online consultation service is available Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6.30pm.
Commenting Neil Armitage, Marketing Director at Foresters Friendly Society said: "I am thrilled to be announcing this new benefit at a time when NHS Direct is being scaled back and there are real concerns about getting access to qualified doctors.
"We work hard to ensure that the Extras available to our members are relevant and recent research shows that the GP Consultation Service is highly desirable."
The package also includes: discretionary optical and dental grants, a legal advice helpline, and a discounted will writing service.
Members of the public can also join the Society to take advantage of the benefits without having to buy a policy.
