People affected by life threatening illnesses in Bristol are being offered more access to support due to a Simplyhealth donation.

The healthcare insurance provider has made a donation of £2,400 to counselling and psychotherapy charity The Harbour to enable it to provide more support services in the Bristol area.

Sam Thomas, spokesperson at The Harbour, said the funds would kick start a new programme which aims to help businesses offer better support to employees suffering or bereaved from life threatening illnesses.

Thomas said: "Being told that you or someone you care for has been diagnosed with a life threatening illness can be a devastating blow."

Jamie Wilson, spokesperson for Simplyhealth, said the insurer looked forward to an update on the new Partnership Programme.
