AXA PPP healthcare has launched a scheme to enable big businesses to provide improved and affordable healthcare for workers.

The Healthcare Pathway has been designed to slash employer losses through illness and improve employee experience by putting sick employees in touch with a healthcare provider in a quick, easy and cost-effective way.

AXA PPP, which is working in partnership with selected healthcare providers, said the scheme offers five key benefits:

• Prevention
• Guidance
• Fast access to medical care
• Treatment
• Recovery

Separately, it said employers will profit from:

• A healthier workforce
• A better patient journey
• Controlling costs
• Faster return to work
• Choice and flexibility

While employees will gain:

• Easy access to hospitals
• Simplicity
• Choice of specialists
• Financial peace of mind
• A better understanding of their health

James Freeston, sales and marketing director at AXA PPP, said: "We understand in the tough economic, social and health landscape employers are dealing with and the pressure they're facing to provide for employee healthcare at a cost their businesses can sustain.Meeting this need, while also tackling the causes of medical inflation, demands a new way of thinking.

"Our response is to pioneer a better health journey: The Healthcare Pathway - helping employees stay healthy by providing engaging health guidance, speeding them to the right treatment when they need it and supporting them throughout their recovery. And at the same time tackling costs and ensuring financial sustainability."
