New device provides more independence for dementia sufferers

clock

A device has been launched for Alzheimer's and dementia sufferers to live more independently.

The Mindme Locate electronic device can be worn on a belt, as a pendant or put in pockets and bags so a person can be located if they wander off.

Carers and families can contact the Mindme Response Centre or go to a secured area on the website to locate the person; the device uses satellite technology.

Adrian Wolf, managing director of Mindme, said: "This device will give peace of mind to family and carers and means that people in the early and moderate stages of dementia or other mental impairment will not have to be locked in their homes or move into a care home."
