Mortgage payment protection and short-term income irotection specialist i:protect has said it is in talks with an unnamed charity partner to enter the group market through an online portal.
Dennis Haggerty, marketing manager at i:protect, explained: "We do get enquiries for workplace schemes which, to date, have been intermediary territory as far as we are concerned.
"However, more organisations, like individuals, will happily use the web to go direct.
"To meet this demand, whilst we still only offer to write individual policies on-line - compliance drives this - we will offer an over-arching workplace one off payment which the employer can keep/spend on staff facilities or give back to their staff through their social fund or simply pay them."
The concept is that, if 100 staff signed up out of a company with 150 employees, the commission payment would go to the employer.
"This appeals," said Haggerty, "as it delivers a staff benefit without them actually doing much and, crucially its a 'clean hands' arrangement with no ongoing involvement on their behalf as the scheme is run entirely on-line by i:protect."
