Bright Grey releases death in service plan for SMEs

Bright Grey has released a stand alone Relevant Life Policy aimed at small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs).

The policy can be written on a single life giving an alternative way of providing life cover for SMEs that have too few employees for a group scheme.

Additionally for high earners, the lump sum benefits do not form part of the employee's annual or lifetime pension allowance.

Jerry Bayman, National Partnership Manager for business protection said: "Most group risk providers are reluctant to write schemes for less than 5 members. While some employers pay for the provision of personal policies, particularly for directors, the premiums on these will be taxed back on the employee as remuneration."

"Relevant Life policies avoid this problem and are a highly tax efficient way of providing valuable life cover for dependents. While principally aimed at directors and high earners, they can be suitable for any employee," he added.
