PruHealth has revealed its first new product suite since purchasing Standard Life Healthcare last year.
The private medical insurance (PMI) provider is now the fourth biggest in the UK and confirmed the range will eventually replace all existing plans following a closely monitored transition period.
It has designed three products specifically for the individual, small to medium enterprise (SME) and corporate markets in an attempt to take key elements from both providers' existing ranges.
The Personal, Business and Corporate plans are based around a modular approach common to the Standard Life policies but include the PruHealth Vitality wellness programme as part of the core cover component.
Available add-ons include cover enhancements, excess levels, hospital lists and underwriting options with a Vitality+ upgrade for the Personal plan.
The Business scheme includes a personal health fund option which covers costs typically catered for by cash plans such as optical and dental treatment, health screens and self referred physiotherapy.
Transparency of coverage is also a key part of the new package with a cover check commitment being introduced in an attempt to address some of the negative coverage the industry has received recently in this area.
Where any limitations exist, the applicant will have to sign against an explanation of each point when taking out a policy to ensure they understand the cover provided.
The provider explained: "We have responded to the widely held customer perception that the insurance industry uses small print to get out of paying claims by introducing this commitment."
"We are fully transparent about what is covered and make it clear when limits or exclusions apply or where choices need to be made that affect a member's level of cover."
The provider added that where a full cover policy was sold, this would include no fee limits for specialists and access to the latest drugs and treatments available.
All existing policies will be available to be sold until March, at which point they will be replaced by the new plans.
PruHealth expects to start offering the new products to existing members at renewal from later in the year, although this could change depending on the ease of the migration.
