New ABI director general Kerrie Kelly has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at this year's Protection Review conference.
Kerry only took up the post last month following Stephen Haddrill's departure last year.
"This year will be important in establishing the environment for sales of protection after the RDR and working with the new Government to show the important part protection can play in building a more financially resilient society," ABI assistant director, health and protection, Nick Kirwan says.
The Protection Review has also announced a series of changes to its activities in a bid to improve knowledge and cut the protection gap.
They include:
- introduction of regular intermediary events including workshops and roundtables to improve industry knowledge and understanding of the market;
- new format for the annual conference which will address key protection issues;
- new awards including Best Protection Adviser, Outstanding Contribution to Protection Journalism and Positive Market Profile;
- several new sections in the 2010 book (published on 15 July), such as the view from overseas and ‘Protection 2020';
- an overhaul of the Protection Review website;
- the HealthCare Insurance Report newsletter, which has been published since 1998, will be renamed ‘e-Protection Review' and be available as a PDF to all Protection Review subscribers from March 29th.
Peter Le Beau, co-chairman of Protection Review, says: "In the absence of the now defunct Consumer Protection Insurance Engagement Campaign (CPIEC), Protection Review has a leading role to play in driving the protection industry forward and we are already discussing further events and ideas for 2011."
