Axa has amended its critical illness product and unveiled a client support service for all products within its protection account.
These are the first major protection product moves made by the provider following its purchase by Resolution and subsequent merger with Friends Provident.
It is continuing the conditions race by making its cover for stroke ABI+ by removing the exclusion for traumatic injury to brain tissue or blood vessels, meaning it now has 10 ABI+ definitions, while adding open heart surgery to its conditions covered, taking that total to 38.
The provider has also extended the amount of countries now permitted in respect of critical illness claims and HIV cover to 44.
It said this was to accommodate changing lifestyle trends with an increase in the number of people living or working abroad.
The Care Consultants service offers all new protection account customers access to additional practical and emotional support following illness or death.
It includes a second medical opinion service, a dedicated counsellor at the point of claim, and a medical helpline providing access to nurses, counsellors, midwives and pharmacists.
The service is available to the policyholder, their spouse or civil partner and their children up to the age of 21.
