Most insurers offer the choice of a core critical illness plan or a more comprehensive version.  This twin-pronged approach is designed to appeal to advisers and consumers who demand high quality offerings as well as those who are primarily fixated by price. This level of choice was available at the very beginnings of CIC design in the 1980/90s via insurers such as Allied Dunbar and Canada Life but was subsequently ditched and only restored in November 2016, courtesy of Aviva.
