Ellipse is now covering cohabitant partners of employees opting for spouse cover as part of a raft of changes on the insurer's group critical illness (group CI) product.
The partner must be financially dependent on or in a relationship of mutual dependence with the employee. They must have lived in the same residence together for a least six months. Lee Lovett, chief executive of Ellipse, said: "This update brings our product into the 21st century. More and more couples are living together and are financially dependent upon one another without being married or in a civil partnership." As part of the changes to the group CI product, dementia has now been defined as a core illness, having previously featured on Ellipse's additional cover list only. ...
