Health Insurance group BHSF has acquired WellWork Limited in its fifth acquisition since May 2012.
The group aims to expand its occupational health division to provide nationwide coverage.
WellWork provides occupational health services with a head office in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and branches in Liverpool and Glasgow.
Occupational health services on offer are health-survelillance programmes, pre-employment screening, consultancy and health screening services.
Founder and current head of WellWork, Dr Geoff Helliwell will remain with the business for "several months" to ensure an orderly handover.
No redundancies are expected to arise in either company following the deal, and BHSF believes expansion opportunities could bring a potential growth in employees.
As well as its occupational health BHSF consists of two health insurers and an insurance brokerage offering personal insurance, employee benefits and HR support.
Peter Maskell, group chief executive of BHSF, said: "We are very pleased to have acquired such a successful business which will strengthen our occupational health proposition and give us greater credibility in the marketplace.
"Initially, WellWork will be a subsidiary of BHSF Occupational Health Limited, which is headed by MD Dr Philip McCrea, but the plans are for the businesses to be integrated quite quickly.
"We are looking to acquire further suitable businesses in order to achieve a truly nationwide occupational health service. We are well known amongst HR professionals for our not-for-profit ethos, straight-talking, high quality and outstanding value for money."
