Seven UK health Cash plan providers came together to raise money for a children's hospice with a charity golf day.
The second annual golf day held on 15 September pitted Health Shield, BHSF, Westfield, BUPA, Medicash, HSF and Engage Mutual against one another.
The event raised £4,351 for Acorns Children's hospice, a charity chosen by BHSF, which provides care and support for children with life limiting or life threatening conditions, though its hospices in Selly Oak, Walsall and Worcester and through a community team offering a 24 hour at home support service.
Laura Richards, corporate fundraising officer at Acorns Children's Hospice said: "We are so grateful for the support of all of the providers that took part in the Golf Day to raise funds for Acorns. We rely on fundraising and donations to keep our services running, which cost £750 per child per day, so this kind of support is vital for us."
The contest was won by BHSF, also the victors last year, with Health Shield runners up, last year's contest raised £3,500 for Breast Cancer Care. It was held at the Little Aston Gold Club in Sutton Coldfield.
Dave Willetts, head of business development at Health Shield, said: "The event was a great success and we were able to put our friendly rivalry to good use. Acorns is a very important charity that is close to many people's hearts and we'd like to thank BHSF for the nomination. At Health Shield, we are committed to investing in the community and we are pleased to be able to bring the market together for a worthy cause.
"Just the day before this event, 55 employees from Health Shield took part in a triathlon at Nantwich to raise money for Alzheimer's research, raising in excess of £3,500. Health Shield also run regular in-house events to raise money for charity through our social committee."
