The top five flexible benefits for engagement

Here they are… The five flexible benefits with the best staff engagement rates, according to a whitepaper published by Benefex.

The benefit provider said the top five benefits for engaging staff were:

1. Holiday Trading
2. Childcare Vouchers
3. Dental Insurance
4. Travel Insurance
5. Critical Illness Insurance

Despite this, Benefex said offering benefits that staff didn't expect could also engage staff.

Benefex provider analyst Amanda Elliot-Murray said: "We are finding an increasing number of our clients incorporating benefits that are outside of employee expectations. Benefits such as spa days and magazine subscriptions add a lighter ‘lifestyle' element to an employee package.

"The idea of one-stop purchasing is taking hold and creates great levels of engagement as employees can choose their traditional benefits at the same point as setting up their travel insurance, renewing their dental insurance and on top of that, selecting experience days for their family or spa days for their friends. The advent of anytime benefits means employees are engaging with the scheme on a regular basis."

This comes as Benefex launched a whitepaper on engaging staff - Employee engagement is a journey, not just a destination - to look at why companies should embark on the journey to engagement, what that journey might look like and how to measure progress along the way.

The paper also looks at ten top tips to conducting a successful employee engagement survey and includes case studies on how two different companies have engaged their workforces.

Benefex founder and chief executive Matt Waller explained: "There is much said about employee engagement - providers, industry commentators and intellectuals all use the word with scary frequency. Rarely do they mean the same thing. Rarely is it used in the same context. It is important to be clear about what employee engagement means for your organisation and most importantly how you are going to measure it every day. The indicators that show you its working will vary depending on what you're looking to achieve, the demographics of your staff and your culture. Every organisation is different and that needs to be reflected in everything that you seek to do around employee engagement."
