clock • 1 min read

The Work and Pensions Select Committee has today announced the first oral evidence session for its inquiry into Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and Work Capability Assessments (WCA).

This session, with claimant and disability representative groups, will explore how effective the WCA is in determining whether people are fit for work.

It will also address concerns around the delivery of the WCA by Atos, which recently announced it will exit its government contract early.

MPs will also discuss outcomes for claimants following the assessment as well as the process for appealing a decision and available financial support.

Witnesses at the session will include experts from Citizen's Advice, Mind, Parkinsons UK, and Scope.

The session will be held on Wednesday 9 April at 9.30 am.
