The government will undertake a call for evidence on remuneration practices to inform future policy changes, as it believes current rules can lead to "unfair outcomes".
Following on from the Office of Tax Simplification's (OTS) review of employee benefits and expenses last year which highlighted many of the issues in this area, the government said that the current rules for benefits and expenses were too "complex".
It said that it will "call for evidence on remuneration practices to inform any future reforms".
A HM Treasury spokesperson told COVER's sister title WSB the review was "likely to be quite broad initially and then we'll look at any future reforms based on what we get back from that."
The call for evidence will be launched in the summer of this year.
