Generali UK has upgraded its employee assistance programme (EAP), allowing all UK employees of its group income protection (GIP) policyholders to benefit from the scheme.
Currently Generali GIP scheme members and their financial dependents can use the free telephonic EAP service, provided in partnership with PPC Worldwide.
With immediate effect, all UK employees of their GIP policyholders, including those not currently insured under the GIP plan and their financial dependants will be able to use the EAP scheme, at no additional cost to the policyholder.
The firm also announced its changes to GIP schemes in relation to the government’s proposed changes to the state pension age (SPA).
Where GIP schemes with a terminal age tracked SPA, Generali said the scheme would automatically adapt the scheme terminal age to reflect the government’s new SPA timetable, if and when the changes were signed into law.
Where the terminal age was adapted, either automatically or on request, members would need to be ‘actively at work’ at the effective date of the change in order to benefit.
It added that no immediate changes would be made to GIP rates until a timetable was announced by the government.
