White label specialist Cigna Insurance Services has launched a new product for customers of its affinity partners.
Priority Diagnostics Plan addresses consumers' concerns about the ability of the NHS to get medical conditions diagnosed quickly.
Priority Diagnostics Plan customers are able to choose which specialist medical consultant and hospital they use, providing them with added convenience when compared to similar offerings.
Research commissioned by Cigna Insurance Services found just under a third of UK consumers are concerned about the time taken to get a medical condition diagnosed under the NHS.
The research also highlighted that the time taken to get a medical diagnosis is the biggest single cause of dissatisfaction with the NHS, with over half of those who are unhappy citing this as their main reason.
Commenting on the new product, Chris Jones, head of product management at Cigna Insurance Services, said: "With the NHS having to find £20bn in cost savings by 2015 at the same time as continuing to implement its new structure, our research reinforces the extent to which consumers are genuinely concerned about the impact these changes might have on them and their families.
"This comes at a time when the total number of people in England waiting for a NHS diagnostics test increased by almost 6% over the 12 month period to August 2013.
"Priority Diagnostics Plan has been developed in response to this need and targets the overwhelming majority of customers who do not have access to, or cannot afford the cost of a comprehensive PMI plan, but who still want to limit the anxiety by getting their medical problems diagnosed quickly."
