DWP publishes new benefit rates

The department of Work and Pensions has published the Social security benefits up-rating for 2014 in a written Ministerial Statement.

Steve Webb MP, the Minister for Pensions, said in the statement: "I am pleased to announce the proposed social security benefits rates for 2014.

"The annual up-rating of benefits will take place for State Pensions and most other
benefits in the first full week of the tax year. In 2014, this will be the week beginning
7 April. A corresponding provision will be made in Northern Ireland."

Tax credits, child benefit, war pensions and income tax allowances are to follow shortly.
