Health cash plan provider Medicash has upgraded its company-paid Proactive plan to ensure all policyholders in a client business enjoy the same benefit year, even if they subscribe mid-term.
The business said it implemented the changes because its on-going research showed the plan was increasingly being purchased to accompany existing group Private Medical Insurance (PMI) schemes.
It was therefore essential to ensure the plans ran in tandem and did not have different benefit periods that could potentially leave an individual without cover, the provider said.
Medicash is contacting all existing policholders of the Proactive plan to realign their benefit year. All new business will now align from the outset.
Sue Weir, chief executive of Medicash, said the move was to ensure that Proactive continued to provide affordable and cost effective health benefits for employees and their families, at the same time as making it easier for companies to administer and understand.
Medicash is also launching a new version of its Proactive plan for companies with between 15 and 24 employees.
The revamp and new version of Proactive follow Laing and Buisson's recent Health Cover UK Market Report 2013 which revaled the number of health cash plans funded by companies rose strongly in 2012 by 15.4%, with businesses spending a total of £58m on group schemes
