High growth at Police Mutual

Police Mutual Police Mutual Group, the UK's largest affinity friendly society, has reported an 18% rise in new life business and 13% growth in its general insurance business over in the first half of 2013.

Its interim results also announced it has also made two acquisitions; Police Healthcare, a specialist private medical provider, and the general insurance business of the Strathclyde Police Federation.

Commenting on the results, Stephen Mann, Chief Executive at Police Mutual said; ‘‘It is not a coincidence that the levels of growth we have seen have occurred while we have increased our focus on communicating our mutual, not-for-profit message to our members.

"These results demonstrate that the modern mutual is more than equal to the privatised financial institutions in the market in terms of both results and benefits."

Police Mutual's membership numbers have increased by 2% in the past six months following the introduction of new member benefits, including a free debt advisory service.
