Universal Provident raises age for parent accomodation

clock

Universal Provident is to increase the maximum age for children, at which it will pay accommodation charges for their parents, during hospital stays.

Under the private medical insurer's Choices policy, the age of child members, whose parents will be eligible for this benefit, will increase from 10 to 16 years old.

The insurer said as an example, should an insured child of say 15 years fall ill and required eligible in-patient treatment, then it will pay the accomodation charges for his or her parent on site.

Dale Tranter, assistant group underwriting manager at Universal Provident said: "The improvement allows a parent to be with their child in time of need without worrying about the cost."
