Premier Choice Group has announced the death of its chief executive Mike Izzard, aged 61.
In a statement, the specialist healthcare intermediary said: “Mike has for nearly a year been bravely fighting complications following the removal of a brain tumour. He died peacefully at home with his family over the weekend.”
Izzard founded the company in 1996 and was a prominent figure within the private medical insurance industry.
He also served as president of the Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries between 2008 and 2010.
Prior to his death, Izzard arranged a management buyout of the company with directors Ann Daniels, Helen Franklin and Tom McGuinness, which completed last week.
Daniels stated: “Mike was a brilliant, driven and inspirational man. He created a dynamic company but still made it feel like a family – he will be missed more than we can say.
“Our focus now is to continue all that he established and to run PCG to the very high standards Mike always adhered to. Our thoughts are with his wife Judy and his daughters at this very sad time."
