Law firm launches 'no fund no fee' care home service

Law firm Farley Dwek has launched a ‘no fund, no fee' service which includes support from legal experts and nurses to help clients mitigate long-term care costs through NHS entitlement.

As well as providing guidance on completing application forms and preparing medical paperwork, the firm provides access to experienced nurses and solicitors who will attend review meetings to ensure a better chance of success.

Clients will incur an administration cost which covers the cost of securing medical reports and identifying the correct nurse to help assess the case.

Andrew Farley, director of Farley Dwek Solicitors, said: "People don't trust the NHS to assess their entitlement accurately after all the mistakes they have made surrounding care home fees so those that can afford it are quite rightly seeking external advice.

"Funding decisions are not based on financial status alone. The healthcare needs of the individual are what really matters and supplying this information in the correct format ensures a vastly improved chance of success. The funding process is incredibly complex and involves forms, assessments and review meetings.

"We're already acting on behalf of 250 families to recover care home fees they have wrongly paid and there are thousands of others who do not want to be in the same position.

"With care home fees approaching £1,000 a week it's not worth taking the risk of getting the funding application wrong or relying on NHS staff who have got it wrong so often. Appeals processes can take months and by that time thousands of pounds would have been spent on care home fees."
