Insurance provider Endsleigh has launched support for sufferers and potential sufferers of asthma to educate on how it can affect life insurance policies.
The provider has created an interactive infographic in an aim to dispel "common misconceptions" that asthma always has an impact on life insurance.
The provider stated: "We have drawn up this interactive graphic to remind people that their life insurance policies are not always affected by asthma, something that has long been a misconception of policy holders."
The infographic includes facts on impact of asthma in the UK including; 5.4m people in the UK are currently receiving treatment for asthma, 1 in 11 children and 1 in 12 adults; prevalence is reported to have plateaued since late 90s; and three people die each day from asthma in Europe, with 1,143 deaths in the UK in 2010, 16 of whom were children under 14.
According to Endsleigh, an estimated 75% of hospital admissions for asthma are avoidable and 90% of the deaths from asthma are preventable.
Michael Day, spokesperson at Endsleigh Insurance, said: "We hope that this puts the minds of many people in the UK at peace; knowing that although asthma can have a huge impact on their life, but not always on their life insurance.
"We also want to use this graphic to raise awareness of the triggers that surround asthma as well as support the great work asthma charities are doing in the UK and around the world."
