clock

Chief executive officer of Simplyhealth, Des Benjamin, has stepped down after 13 years at the company.

Benjamin joined HSA in 2000, which became Simplyhealth in 2009. Benjamin led the company through a number of mergers and acquisitions, most recently Denplan and the healthcare arm of Groupama Insurances.

Benjamin said: "For reasons personal to me I know it is the right decision. I know as one era ends, another will blossom and I also know it will be a good one for Simplyhealth people and for our customers."

Ken Piggott, chairman at Simplyhealth, commended Benjamin for "unfaltering" leadership and sense of purpose.

Benjamin will continue to lead the business in the interim and is working with the board to manage handover to his successor.

The board has begun the process of finding Benjamin's replacement.
