Bupa has announced completion of its acquisition of the largest private healthcare provider in Poland at a price of £325.5m.
The deal with LUX Med Group from private equity firm Mid Europa Partners marks Bupa's entry into Poland.
Spending on healthcare in Poland is increasing and the private healthcare market is forecast to grow by 10% each year until 2016.
The move will add 1.2m new customers to Bupa's international portfolio. LUX MED offers medical subscriptions, a corporate product providing employees with access to out-patient services.
Stuart Fletcher, chief executive of Bupa, said: "This marks an exciting step in Bupa's story. LUX MED provides an excellent platform for growth as the market develops."
The acquisition was cleared by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection and Sweden's Financial Supervisory Authority.
In Spain Bupa already operates an integrated model between its insurance business and hospitals, out-patient clinics and dental centres.
