Claims numbers for major smoking-related conditions have fallen massively in the last three years, an iPMI specialist provider has reported.
According to William Russell, records indicate a huge 36.1% fall in the number of claims submitted for conditions including lung cancer, heart disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Inez Cooper, managing director at William Russell, said "It is encouraging to witness such a marked reduction in claims for these conditions, and we hope that this positive trend continues going forward. As the figures relate to primary smoking-related medical conditions, they certainly seem to emphasise the importance of these healthy living initiatives."
The provider said the reduction was an encouraging indicator that efforts to promote stopping smoking globally could be proving worthwhile.
Today is the thirtieth ‘No Smoking Day' - a national day to raise awareness of the dangers of smoking, with the aim to provide support and encouragement for those trying to quit the habit.
