Cigna is re-launching its healthcare benefits package with an emphasis on integrated services.
Originally created in 2009, the latest version of Cigna Connect has retained corporate health and wellbeing services from Nuffield Health. However it has added a new primary care service provider, Roodlane Medical, and the employee assistance programme provider Workplace Options.
Cigna UK HealthCare Benefits head of product management Kirsty Jagielko said the providers were chosen for their commitment to integrating services: "When we launched Cigna Connect in 2009, employers were looking for the best value for money across all areas of employee health spend.
"Employers today are looking for more than cost efficiencies - they want integrated health services that enhance the employee experience and deliver integrated management reporting."
The package has been designed to respond to different integration needs. Employees could be able to access different services such as a medical plan and an EAP using a single helpline number. Alternatively, the focus could be on streamlining the interaction between an employee's GP and the authorisation process of their medical plan.
Cigna's latest move reflects a growing interest in EAP services - last month it announced it would be adding a standalone programme to its other plans.
Also in October, it announced it would be adding a private medical insurance-style feature to its dental insurance product which provided full refunds for covered treatments at its own network of dentists in an effort to control costs.
