Bupa has launched cover focusing on mental health and welfare for students.

The Bupa Student Health Expenses aims to help students stay healthy and manage health expenses.

The product has a particular focus on mental health and fitness as well as helping with everyday health costs.

Cost starts at £9 each month and will offer £600 cover including; physiotherapy and sports injuries; Bupa health and fitness assessments; dental, optical and prescription costs; Bupa health insurance discount; and £12,000 personal accident cover.

Tony Wood, sales and marketing director at Bupa Health and Wellbeing, said: "We know that money is tight for many students, and parents worry about their child's welfare when they first leave home for university.

"This cover is designed to give parents peace of mind and to help students stay well without having to worry about health expenses."

The product also provides a 24/7 GP helpline for parents and students and telephone counselling on welfare and mental health.
