Assurant extends product range to legal expenses

Assurant Intermediary has launched a new legal expenses policy.

The policy, Legal Aid, is underwritten by DAS, and will provide cover for employment disputes, contract disputes, personal injury, clinical negligence and identity theft, among other things.

Kevin Paterson, sales and marketing director at Assurant, said: "A legal dispute can arise unexpectedly with problems ranging from a dispute with your employer to someone trespassing on your property.

"The cost of settling such a dispute can prove expensive whether you win or lose. With Legal Aid now only available to a small number of people the cost of professional advice can soon mount up."
