Allianz Worldwide Care targets globally mobile with "upper end" PMI

Citing a trend to global mobility, Allianz Worldwide Care has launched a UK healthcare plan allowing treatment either in or outside the country.

The Signature product provides group clients with a portable a health plan offering high level of cover for a range of treatments.

The insurer said the new product, which has two core plans, Signature Prime and Signature Plus, would offer geographical freedom to clients for the same amount of money as a top end domestic insurance.

Ron Buchan, chief executive officer of Allianz Worldwide Care, said: "There is an increasing tendency amongst the upper socio-economic groups to not be geographically limited. So cover limited to only one country is becoming increasingly unattractive.

"We expect to see geographic mobility becoming the main driver of upper end health products around the world and thus will see a merging of international and domestic insurances."

The plans have comprehensive cancer cover, including palliative care for terminal cases.

This includes access to licensed treatments not normally approved under the National Institute for Clinical Excellence.

There is also cover available for pre-existing and chronic conditions.

The plans also have a number of optional add-ons, covering routine health checks, out-patient treatment, dental and optical benefits and maternity treatment.

Buchan added: "Medicine is becoming increasingly specialised and the emphasis on outcomes is increasing. The internet is making it easier to research treatment and this means people will travel, and that could well be overseas.

"We already see a lot of Asian and Eastern European clients taking out plans with that in mind."

Claude Daboul, director, sales and marketing at Allianz worldwide Care, added the insurer was able to control costs through leveraging existing contractual relationships and infrastructure built up through the International PMI business.

"We have access to discounts that national insurers do not have," she said.

"The competition among employers for senior talent isd fierce and being able to offer a top-end employee benefit such as Signature iscan make all the difference in terms of attracting and retaining key staff."
