Aviva provides access to medical records overseas

clock

Aviva has launched a health passport for international private medical insurance policyholders.

My Health Passport will provide online access to medical records and hold all health information. Holders will be encouraged to carry a membership card so records can be accessed in an emergency.

Part of the aim has been to provide policyholders with better knowledge of their medical history and needs.

Aviva research showed a third of adults did not know GP contact details and two thirds were not aware of their blood group.

Teresa Rogers, business lead at Aviva UK Health, said: "Living and working abroad poses some challenges and recalling vital health information in the event of an illness or injury abroad can be tough.

"The information this online service holds can save vital time in a patient receiving the right treatment and can save costs by preventing repeat medical tests."

Aviva has partnered with Zaptag to launch the service. It will be available to individual and corporate customers of Aviva's International Solutions private medical insurance at the start of a policy and at renewal for no extra cost.
