Metlife expands with bereavement and probate service

MetLife has bumped up its group life protection with a bereavement and probate service.

The free-of-charge service has been added to the re-launched product in an aim to continue growing the American insurer's employee benefits arm.

It will include a telephone helpline, access to financial and legal guidance and 24-hour telephone counselling.

Stephanie Baillie, employee benefits director of MetLife UK, said: "It is about helping employers help their employees and their families at a time when one of the most traumatic events a family can experience occurs."

Additional product launches have been planned for next year; the insurer has said it will build on customer service and relationships with IFAs and employee benefit consultants.

In March, MetLife increased maximum cover age to 75 from 70 on the product, provided early retirement cover and raised the maxmimum temporary cover above the free cover limit.
