Healthcare provider Simplyhealth has invited young people to a half-day employment skills workshop at its Manchester office.
The provider's aim is to provide youngsters with activities that would develop life and work place abilities, while experiencing a busy office environment.
Ten young people from charity ReachOut!'s employment programme took part in the session.
James Glover, spokesperson for Simplyhealth, said: "The workshop was a great way to educate young people about business and what future employers will look for in an employee."
He added Simplyhealth would continue to support the charity in helping young adults believe in their ability to be successful in work.
Steve West, joint managing director at recruitment firm Pertemps, said there was a rise in financial services recruitment to address PPI claims, but a "huge gap" in younger people building a career in the industry.
He said: "In the insurance and finance sector there is still the perception that those jobs are not in decline but have plateaued. There is a big need for the idea that younger people can look to the sector for a career needs resurrecting.
"Younger people need companies to give them more time to build the necessary skills and build awareness of a career in the industry."
ReachOut! works with children from disadvantaged communities, to help them raise their aspirations, self-esteem and achievement.
Last year, Simplyhealth's Manchester community fund donated £9000 to ReachOut!.
Hannah Christie, spokesperson for ReachOut!, said: "The young people had a great time on the day and learnt a lot."
