Aviva launches stress app

clock

Aviva has launched a phone app to identify anxiety causes and offer practical advice to help control it.

Users will provide their current stress levels to The My Stress Kit app and complete a questionnaire to understand triggers of pressure and stress.

The app will then provide a stress diary timeline graph. Users can track their moods and trigger points, with practical tips and advice from clinical experts.

Dr Doug Wright, medical director at Aviva UK Health, said: "Most of us experience situations that make us feel stressed and under pressure, but we do not always recognise what the triggers are.

"Stress becomes anxiety and then becomes depression. People are happy to talk about physical problems but there is a stigma around metnal illness."

The app has been developed with in-house clinical experts, psychiatric nurses and a GP.

Aviva will be developing another app looking at general health and wellbeing for launch in the near future.

The My Stress Kit app is free to download on iPhones and android from Google Play. It will be available to everyone, Aviva customer or not.
