Cashplan holders failing to claim on complementary services

Customers are failing to claim for complementary and alternative treatments on cashplans, elements they may have been impressed with at point of purchase.

Gail Maltby, chief executive of cashplan provider Paycare, said: "When people sign up to healthcare plans they are often impressed with the wide range of benefits that are offered as part fo the package.

"However, over time, they tend to claim only for the mainstream benefits such as dental and optical treatments."

Maltby noted this included treatments considered mainstream, such as physiotherapy and oesteopathy as well as treatments such as acupuncture, reflexology and others.

"Many people with healthcare cash plans - which help with everyday healthcare costs - are inadvertantly missing out on potential benefits to which they are entitled," she said.
