Simplyhealth has completed its purchase of fellow health insurer Groupama Healthcare and revealed it will release a new private medical insurance product in the autumn.
Policy terms and conditions, benefits, and contact details that customers previously used have not changed.
The acquisition was announced in August last year but has been delayed due to a backlog of transactions in the regulatory and legal processes.
However, approval was given by the High Court on 26 April and all Groupama Healthcare policies were transferred to Simplyhealth on 27 April.
Groupama's PMI plan, Santé, has been renamed Santé by Simplyhealth and is still available for quotations and renewals, but the insurer said it was planning a new PMI product which it hoped would be launched in the autumn.
"This will include the best aspects of both Santé by Simplyhealth and Preferential, Simplyhealth's existing comprehensive private medical insurance plans," it added.
Combined with its acquisition of Denplan, the insurer has nearly four million policyholders and 20,000 businesses customers and is now the UK's fifth largest PMI provider.
Simplyhealth sales and marketing director Jamie Wilson, said: "We're very excited to have completed our acquisition of Groupama Healthcare as it means we can help more people with their health.
"Groupama Healthcare had built a strong reputation for customer service and this is something we are firmly committed to continuing.
"We will ensure that all policyholders, intermediaries and corporate clients receive the same personal service they have always had," he added.
