April Medibroker buys Medicare International

April Medibroker has bought healthcare underwriters Medicare International from Lloyds broker Lonmar Global Risks.

MediCare International operates with an underwriting facility from Lloyd's Underwriters and the company market. It provides healthcare cover to expatriates and their families from 86 nationalities in 121 countries.

APRIL Medibroker, an insurance broker marketing international private medical insurance predominantly through the internet, is part of April, one of the largest independent insurance broking groups in France with a turnover of €757m (2011) and 3,830 staff.

Lonmar will continue to provide broking/placing services to MediCare through its specialist Accident & Health division.

Paul Vermeulen, President and Chief Executive Officer of APRIL's International division, said: "MediCare's acquisition is an excellent fit within APRIL's strategy and will help us continue improving the way we service our customers all over the world.
