PG Mutual has signed up to COVER's campaign to reform the assessment of claims for income protection (IP).
The campaign aims to end the practice of writing list-based occupational definitions, such as Activities of Daily Living and Working (ADL and ADW) for the product.
Mike Perry, CEO of recently rebranded PG Mutual, said PG Mutual was pleased to support the campaign.
"Income protection for healthcare professionals is our specialist subject and has been since we were established by our members in 1928.
"We are proud to be a mutual organisation which offers support when our members need it and help them get back to their chosen profession.
"At the claims stage we start with the fact that our members want to get back to work as soon as they can and we work with them to help them achieve that.
"Complicating the process by assessing how far you can walk does little to help our members and breaks down the trust they have in PG Mutual," he added.
COVER is urging any representatives of the income protection community to give the campaign their support by contacting us.
